In the United Kingdom the current national standard will be withdrawn and replaced with Euro Codes and Standards as published by BSI as BS ENs. This replacement is anticipated to be complete by 2010. The BS EN replacement for geotechnical engineering site investigations is Euro code 7, part 2.

Euro code 7, part 2 is intended to give guidance for the planning and interpretation of geotechnical data from the field and laboratory and used in conjunction with Euro code 7 part 1 regarding geotechnical design. It assists in the general planning and layout of site investigations for various structures as well as field and laboratory test requirements.
